New Features in P5

Use Android Tablet as a Replacement Digitizer Board

A mobile tablet or phone running Android can now be used in place of a digitizer board. See the Mobile Tablet Map page to get started.

Enhanced Support for Clearing Data in Digitizer Maps (now called Tablet Maps) and in Tag Actions

The Set Multiple Fields tablet map command can now clear values in one or more fields while also adding or changing values to other fields. See the Set Multiple Fields Command page for more information.

The Field Values tab in Tag Actions has the same feature, so that a triggered tag action can set values in one or more fields and clear values in one or more different fields.

Icon and Color Refresh

The icons on the main screen of P5 have been refreshed to provide a cleaner look.

Features for Tagging Adult Salmonids or Larger Species

Data can be collected in units more appropriate for adults or larger species - centimeters for Length and kilograms for Weight - and then converted to millimeters and grams before submission to PTAGIS.

Additional Length and Weight Validation

Added post-data collection validation on Length and Weight fields. When a Session is validated in Record Management or Session Management, it will compare SRR Code, Life Stage, and Length or Weight value against a table of default values and species specific values. These values are stored in Configuration Tools > Measurement Validation.  Default Validation will be used for every species that does not have a specific Length or Weight range defined. Users can add as many species-specific ranges as needed if the default values are not suitable for their scenario.

Improved Bluetooth Connection to Biomark Readers

A new device type as been added to Configuration Tools > Peripheral Devices that allows for a more streamlined experience when connecting to a Biomark HPR Plus or HPR Lite. The device type is called Reader (HPR Bluetooth) which allows the user to select from all Bluetooth devices within range. There is no longer a need to determine the virtual serial (COM) port that has been assigned to the device.

Integrated Support Request

A new feature allows users to create a support request from directly in P5 and send it to PTAGIS with accompanying information about your computer and a copy of your P5 database. It supports formatted text and images so that screen shots can be included. Also, if you experience an error in P5, it will automatically harvest and include the error message. A support request can be created from the square help button in the upper right corner of P5 or from the Get Help button on any error message.

Enhanced CSV Import Column Mapping

Importing of CSV files has been improved by adding a feature so that P5 will remember the column mapping of the last CSV file that was imported. You can still use automatic mapping if the CSV columns are named the same as P5 fields, but if they have different names you can map them once and then P5 will remember them for subsequent imports.

Easier Installation

The underlying technology and back end database have been upgraded in P5. The back end database is now a SQL Server LocalDB, which requires less resource than the previous express database. It still requires that a light version of SQL Server be installed, but it does not need to run as a service. This has made the installation easier and less prone to failure during the SQL Server prerequisite installation.

Import Sessions and Configuration Directly from P4

When P5 is installed on a computer where P4 is already installed, P5 will detect P4 and offer the user the opportunity to import data and configuration directly from the P4 database.

Explicit Order of Activation for Tag Actions

Tag Actions can now be ordered so that they can activate in a specific sequence.
