Peripheral Devices |
Peripheral devices can be configured to send data directly to P5 during data entry to eliminate the need to enter values by hand. In addition PIT tag readers can download stored tag codes and timestamps from internal memory into a new session.
Multiple peripheral devices of each type, except Digitizer or Mobile Tablet, can be configured and used during data collection. Please see the PIT Tag Readers topic for more information on how to configure multiple readers for use in P5.
Peripherals are configured by device and connection type:

This should be used for any digitizer tablet that uses a native USB connection, or that uses a serial port with a WinTab driver. |

This should be used for any device that communicates through a hardware or virtual serial port. This would include devices such as electronic balances, measuring boards or calipers. Any device that can send a value via serial port can be configured to send that value to a field in P5. |

This should be used with an Android tablet or phone to act as a digitizer tablet replacement. An existing map can be loaded on the device and command squares can be clicked to enter data into or control P5. |
This type can be used with either the HPR Plus or HPR Lite to connect natively through Bluetooth. |
This should be used only with the Biomark HPR reader when it is connected as a native HID or USB device. No other native USB readers are compatible with P5 at this time. |
This type can be used for any reader that communicates through a hardware or virtual serial port. This includes the HPR Plus using the USB-Serial legacy communication mode that is only available with firmware less than 2.0. |
