Status:   Active - Operational
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: Biomark
General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 9/19/2011 12:00 AM

Instream detection system consisting of a tandem array located in the lower South Fork Clearwater River. The array (SC2) located at river km 2 (N 46.12749 W -115.97730) consists of a single array of six 20 ft Biomark flat panel antennas each. The array spans approximately 80% of the channel during low flow conditions. SC2 is operated by the Integrated Status and Effectiveness Monitoring Project (ISEMP) cooperators Nez Perce Tribe and Biomark and was installed for continuous monitoring on September 19, 2011. The array includes ISEMP standard site monitoring equipment including: air and water temperature probes, and a water pressure transducer to monitor stream level. Electrical power is provided by grid power and remote communication provided by a cellular modem.

Event Log Summary

Event Date Event Type Comments
4/8/2024 8:51:00 AM General

MUX transceiver was replaced due to a glitch in the onsite MUX causing a Standby like issue that was experienced 3 times between late March and April 3.  Site was down March 19-21.  Again late March 21 through March 22.  An attempted repair was performed on the MUX March 22 by adjusting exciter voltage from 14.75 V to 14.70 V.  Site MUX glitched again thus falling into Standby status on April 3. MUX was reset on April 4 and operated continuously through April 8 when MUX was replaced.

3/21/2024 8:00:00 AM SiteUp

March 21, 2024 the MUX was reset.  SC2 resumed normal operations and is collecting data.

3/19/2024 10:00:00 PM SiteDown

March 19, 2024 the MUX froze up and stopped collecting data.

8/1/2023 12:00:00 AM GMC

Site received zip ties on antenna cables where needed.  SC2 is operating continuously without disruption through August 8, 2023.

5/15/2023 9:20:00 AM SiteUp

May 15, 2023 site visit and a hard reset of MUX transceiver returned the site to normal operations.  SC2 is operating continuously without disruption through May 30, 2023.

5/13/2023 9:20:00 PM SiteDown

May 13, 2023 the MUX transceiver froze up and stopped collecting Data.  Site was down through May 15, 2023

8/18/2022 12:00:00 AM SiteUp

SC2 broken cellular modem was replaced with a new 5G modem.  Antenna A5 lost current October 18, 2021 and was replaced with a new 20 ft. PVC Biomark antenna.  Site is operating continuously without disruption through August 22, 2022.

11/2/2021 12:00:00 AM General

SC2 antenna A5 lost current on October 18, 2021.  Antenna A5 has not been replaced to date.  SC2 is operating continuously without disruption through November 2, 2021.

12/8/2020 2:01:00 PM General SC2 antenna B5 lost current on October 27, 2020. B5 was replaced with a 20 ft. Biomark PVC antenna. SC2 is running continuously without disruption through December 14, 2020.
9/21/2020 2:06:00 PM General South Fork Clearwater 2 (SC2) is operating continuously without disruption through September 21, 2020.
8/21/2019 3:47:00 PM General South Fork Clearwater 2 (SC2) lost current to antennas A1 and A2 on April 2, 2019 during high spring flows thus ripping the cables out. A2 was simply plugged back in and resumed normal current on August 20, 2019. A1 was replaced with a 20 ft. PVC Biomark antenna due to a water leak inside the existing antenna and resumed normal current on August 21, 2019. Antenna A6 was also replaced on August 21, 2019 with a 20 ft. PVC Biomark antenna due to intermittent current. SC2 is running continuously without disruption through September 30. 2019.
10/10/2018 7:10:00 AM General South Fork Clearwater Array (SC2) had Campbell Scientific data logger replaced with a new data logger designed by Biomark on October 8, 2018. A new 4G Cloudgate cell modem was also installed to replace the existing 3G cellular modem. SC2 site air temperature probe was changed out for a compatible model. SC2 is operating continuously without disruption through October 21, 2018.
7/26/2018 7:31:00 AM General South Fork Clearwater 2 (SC2) antenna A2 experienced a significant drop in current in early December 2017. A2 was replaced with a Biomark 20 ft. PVC antenna on 7/26/18. SC2 is operating continuously without disruption through 7/26/2018.
1/23/2018 2:29:00 PM General South Fork Clearwater array (SC2) had a faulty PS100 battery replaced that was causing the data logger to brown out. Lost PIT tag detection data was recovered from the MUX tranceiver buffer. SC2 is running continuously without disruption through 1/29/18.
11/16/2016 9:08:00 AM General South Fork Clearwater 2 array (SC2) cellular mode seized to function on 10/22/16. SC2 functioning and operational without disruption through 11/16/16.
