ACB is a permanent instream PIT tag interrogation site located near Cloverland Bridge (RKM 4.5) on Asotin Creek, a tributary of the Snake River. As of 10/23/2018 all previous components present at ACB have been replaced and upgraded. The site consists of 2 rows of antennas with each row containing one 20-foot and one 10-foot HDPE antenna, installed in flat-plate configuration. Each antenna is powered by a Biomark IS1001 (ACN) and the ACNs are connected to a Biomark IS1001-MTS master controller. The antennas were built and installed by WDFW. The site is connected to grid power to charge the battery bank powering the detection system. A cellular modem is installed on site to provide remote communication and allow for automated data collection, however, only manual data collection from the IS1001-MTS will occur at ACB until further notice. Prior to the upgrade, the site consisted of three antennas powered by an FS1001M.

Event Date Event Type Comments
11/15/2023 2:00:00 PM SiteUp

Site back up after replacing the batteries that had gone bad at the site.  All antennas tuned and tested prior to leaving site.

11/8/2023 12:00:00 PM SiteDown

Site visited for maintenance and to download buffer when it was discovered that both banks of batteries at the site have gone bad.  Current batteries have been in operation at ACB since September 2018.  Replacement batteries have been ordered and will be installed immediately upon receipt.

9/15/2023 10:00:00 AM General

Site visited to install a new/replacement ACN node for antenna 04.  Antenna 04 has been inoperable since it was reinstalled into its former position in early July 2023 after breaking free from its anchors during the flood/debris event in late December 2022.  Once the node was installed and connected, antenna 04 was tuned, tested and is now operating normally.

4/28/2023 5:00:00 AM GMC

Antenna 01 was disconnected from its node/ACN on 4/28/2023 due to a high flow/debris event in Asotin creek.  Antenna 01 will be reconnected to its node as soon as conditions permit.

4/28/2023 4:00:00 AM GMC

Antenna 01 was disconnected from its node/ACN due to high flows and debris.  It will remain disconnected until flows allow for reconnection.

2/13/2023 1:00:00 PM General

Antenna 01 was reanchored into position on 2/8/2023 and reconnected to its node/ACN on 2/13/2023, now operating normally again.  Antenna 01 had been disconnected and broken free of its anchors since the flood event that began on 12/26/2022.  Antennas 01 and 02 are anchored in position and operating normally.  Antenna 04 is connected and operating at the site but broke free of all but one anchor and is resting up against the south bank.  Antenna 03 was recovered on 2/1/2023 out on the Snake River and appears to still be operable and will be reinstalled asap.

1/5/2023 11:00:00 AM GMC

Site visited to further assess damage to array infrastructure after a recent flood event.  Antenna 01 is present at the site but broken free from most its anchors and will need to be reset/reanchored.  An attempt was made to plug antenna 01 back into its node and reestablish a connection, however it would not connect to the MC so there is a good chance that the node/ACN for antenna 01 will need to be replaced.  Antenna 02 is present at the site, connected and still operating, however it experienced severe scouring around its anchors and will need to be reanchored.  Antenna 03 is absent from the site, broken away from all of its anchors.  A recovery mission to try and locate antenna 03 will occur soon.  The node for antenna 03 is present at the site and appears to be undamaged but its working condition remains unknown.  Antenna 04 is present at the site, connected to its node and operating normally, however, it had been broken free from all but one of its anchors by large woody debris and swung up against the south bank.  Antenna 04 will need to be reanchored back into postition.

12/30/2022 11:10:00 AM GMC

Site visited 12/30/2022 to download buffer and assess damage to the site from a flood event that began 12/26/2022.  Antenna 01 (upstream, river left) had been disconnected from its node but appeared to remain in its anchored location.  Antenna 03 (downstream, river left) was not operating at the time of the flood event as it needs a replacement node, and it was unclear whether antenna 03 remained in its anchored position upon this visit.  Antennas 02 and 04 (up and downstream, river right) remained in their anchored positions and connected to their respective nodes, operating normally.  The site will be revisited the week of 1/1/2023 to further assess damage once stream flows have dropped to an appropriate level.

6/30/2022 1:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to attempt to reconnect antennas 01 and 03 as flows in Asotin Creek have subsided enough to allow for an attempt.  Both antennas were plugged back into their respective nodes.  Antenna 01 was reconnected without issue and tuned.  Antenna 03 would not reconnect so further troubleshooting will happen as time allows to determine whether the issue is with the node or the antenna.  Antenna 01 was non functional  between June 8 and this visit on June 30.  Antennas 02 and 04 continue to operate normally.

6/8/2022 1:00:00 AM GMC

Antennas 01 and 03 became disconnected from their nodes during the early morning of June 8, 2022 due to a flood event occurring in Asotin creek.  Antennas 01 and 03 will remain disconnected until stream flows decrease enough to reconnect them.  Antennas 02 and 04 continue to operate normally.

5/25/2022 12:00:00 PM GMC

Site visited to reconnect antennas 01 and 03 as flows have subsided somewhat in Asotin Creek.  Both antennas 01 and 03 were reconnected without issue and tuned prior to leaving site.  ACB now fully operational once again.  Antennas 01 and 03 were non operational between May 7 2022 and May 25, 2022.

5/12/2022 8:55:00 AM GMC

Site visited to assess damage after a recent high water/high debris event that began the evening of May 6.  Antennas 1 and 3 were disconnected from their nodes during the early morning hours of May 7.  All antennas appear to still be anchored in place.  Further damage assessment will occur once flows recede and visibility improves.  Antennas 2 and 4 continue to operate normally.

6/24/2020 12:45:00 PM General Antenna 3 reconnected to it's node and tuned. All four antennas now operating normally.
4/30/2020 9:00:00 AM General Antenna 3 became disconnected from its node at approximately 8:25am on 4/30/2020 due to a high flow event. As soon as Asotin creek flows decline enough the antenna will be reconnected.
2/23/2020 11:22:00 AM General Antenna 03 became unplugged from its node at approximately 20:00 hrs on the evening of February 8, 2020. The node was repositioned and the antenna 03 was plugged back into its node at approximately 15:00 hrs on February 23, 2020.
8/7/2019 2:21:34 PM General Nodes 1827.2645 - 1827.2648 updated with IS1001 Application Firmware v1.7.0, Master Controller CBG board updated with IS1001-MC CBG Board Firmware v1.7.0 and Master controller updated with IS1001-MC Application Firmware version 1.7.0.
5/30/2019 3:19:21 PM General Antenna 3 at ACB became disconnected from its node on 4/8/2019 at approximately 4:00 am that morning. Asotin Creek flow conditions have finally allowed for Antenna 3 to be reconnected to it's node on 5/30/2019. Antenna 3 has been tuned and has resumed normal operations.
10/23/2018 7:49:00 AM General All site components replaced/upgraded and installed. The site now consists of 2 rows of antennas with each row containing one 20- foot and one 10-foot HDPE antenna, installed in flat-plate configuration. A new site diagram and site description have been added to the site metadata page in Ptagis.
9/15/2017 12:50:00 PM SiteUp Replacement antennas installed at site. The new configuration only employs only 3 antennas due to the significant geomorphic change that occurred at the site during the spring of 2017 and the likelihood that the site will experience significant geomorphic change again in the spring of 2018. All antennas tuned and tested, site operating normally.
7/13/2017 1:22:00 PM SiteDown Site is down and in the process of being rebuilt/reinstalled. All damaged antennas and cables have been removed from the site. The 2 working antennae at the site have been unburied and replacements for the 2 damaged antennae have been acquired along with replacement cables and will be installed in the next couple of weeks.
5/31/2017 2:27:00 PM General Site visited for damage and repair/replacement assessment. Antennas 1 & 2 are still dry and buried under 0.5m of river cobbles but are both present and operating normally. Antennas 3 & 5 were not present at the MUX upon arrival at the site. After inspection it appeared the plug connections on both antennas had come loose during one of the many high water events Asotin Creek has experienced in late March and early April. Antenna 3 was plugged in, tuned and tested and is now back operating normally. Antenna 5 was plugged in but is not functional. Antenna 5 has shifted slightly and doesn't appear to be anchored along it's downstream and may have sustained damage as it sits directly within the thalweg at the site. Further damage assessment and removal and replacement of Antenna 5 will occur as water conditions allow. MUX Buffer was downloaded before leaving the site.
4/2/2017 2:53:47 PM SiteDown Site visited for further damage assessment as high water in Asotin Creek is receding. Antennas 1 and 2 are present but are dry and encased in a gravel bar that has formed within the North side of the creek channel at the site. Antennas 3 and 5 are not present at the MUX but are visible and do not appear to have moved but have simply come unplugged during the high water event. The water is still too high and swift to get out and plug antennas 3 and 5 back in. Further assessment will continue as Asotin Creek water levels further recede.
3/20/2017 8:10:35 AM General Site visited for damage assessment from current high water/flood event occurring in Asotin Creek. All 4 antennas present, high noise on antennas 1 and 2 could indicate that they are buried. Further assessment will occur as conditions allow.
2/13/2014 9:34:26 AM General As of 1/30/2014 site is completely operational. Antenna 4 is not longer in place, and the total number of antennas is down to 4 instead of 5 previously. Antenna sequence is as follows,1,2,3,5. All antennas have been tuned and are functional.
1/24/2014 8:17:46 AM General As of 12/10/2013, antennas # 3 and 4 are not reading Antenna #4 is completely broken and antenna #3 is unplugged.
