Status:   Active - Operational
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: Colville Confederated Tribes
General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 10/8/2013 12:00 AM

OKL is a permanent instream PIT tag interrogation site at RKM 24.9 on the mainstem Okanogan River, upstream of Chiliwist area in Okanogan County. The site consists of two rows of antennas, with each row spanning the wetted width of the channel during base flows. Each row consists of six 20-foot PVC antennas, installed in flat-plate configuration. The antennas were built and installed by WDFW and CCT. The site is powered by a thermoelectric generator. OKL has remote communication abilities provided by a cellular modem and Campbell Scientific CR1000 datalogger system. A submersible pressure transducer and temperature probe sensors are also installed to provide environmental condition data collection.

12/9/2021 12:00:00 PM General

New limiter converter installed and replaced Ignition System battery and igniter rod. System fully operational.

11/22/2021 4:00:00 PM SiteUp

Flood subsided, equipment reinstalled and activated. Limiter Converter for TEG got fried after activation.

11/15/2021 11:30:00 AM SiteDown

Site shut down and all sensitive equipment removed due to anticipated flood event. Will get reinstalled when water recedes.

9/2/2021 12:00:00 AM General

Site had been experiencing noise issues since February 2019 upon replacement of MTS. Noise finally resolved by changing MTS-MC operating mode from Standalone to Master.

2/23/2021 6:00:00 PM General Pressure transducer cable severed. Water temperature and depth not being collected.
10/1/2020 5:00:00 PM General Installed new terminal pod on 0C. Both rows operational.
8/24/2020 2:00:00 PM General Replaced pod for node 2 with new. Moved pod for node 0C (terminal resistor pod) to node 06 on top row to test operation with known working resistor pod. Top row running well now. Bottom row disconnected until new terminal resistor pod can be installed.
8/10/2020 3:00:00 PM General Reconnected homerun cable for top row and node 01. Node 02 gives high noise and node 04 cannot connect. Water still too high to troubleshoot equipment in thalwag. Nodes 01, 07, 08, 09, 0A, 0B, 0C operating well.
8/4/2020 4:00:00 PM General Disconnected top row to try to resolve noise spike issues.
5/13/2020 1:42:00 PM General Moved batteries to elevated Jobox outside of TEG cage to prevent flood damage.
8/1/2018 12:54:00 PM SiteUp Tree removed and cables reconnected. Site is fully operational.
7/1/2018 12:54:00 PM SiteDown A tree lodged itself on the antennas, disconnecting the top row (antennas 1-6).
5/30/2018 1:00:00 PM SiteUp Flood waters have receded enough to reinstall electronics. All antennas are functioning well.
5/7/2018 9:00:00 AM SiteDown Site down due to high water threatening electronics.
12/12/2017 12:00:00 PM SiteUp New power wiring ran to MTS.

6/5/2017 1:00:00 PM SiteUp The OKL generator and reader were installed and all antennas are functioning.
5/30/2017 12:00:00 PM SiteDown The OKL generator and reader were removed due to high water.
12/1/2016 11:00:00 AM General Solder line 1-6 coax cable. All antennas at 5-7amps. Wrap and weatherize.
11/29/2016 2:15:00 PM General Line 1-6 has no current. Cable chewed in half. Need to reconnect. Solder and weatherize.
11/17/2016 1:45:00 PM General Swap thumbdrive.
11/9/2016 10:15:00 AM General Double check system. Looks ok. Uploading issues. Unknown.
