MCK - Mouth McKay Creek
Status: Active - Operations UnspecifiedGeneral Operational Period: Seasonally
Start Date:
As of April 3, 2024, four floating PIT tag antennas were installed just downstream of the McKay Creek WEIR and just upstream of where McKay Creek enters the Umatilla River. This first year, 2024, will be a pilot year to test this new antenna system in the Umatilla Basin, with the hope of gaining near 100% detection efficiency by 2025. ODFW RM&E will be releasing nearly 2000 PIT tagged hatchery steelhead just below the face of McKay Dam. The hope is to produce survival estimates to the mouth of McKay Creek and to Three Mile Falls Dam. This information will be used to determine the ability of fish to successfully navigate McKay Creek and help inform funding agency about the possible modification needed for fish passage as the ESA listed steelhead reintroduction efforts continue in the McKay Creek Watershed.

Operational History
Operational history describes the period the site was interrogating for PIT tags. The comments provide anecdotal information about the operation of the site during this period. Site operational periods are updated typically at the end of the calendar year.
Configuration
Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.
