LMC - Lower Manastash Creek

Status:   Active - Operations Unspecified
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 1/28/2014 12:00 AM

LMC is located in Manastash creek 1.4 miles above the confluence to the Yakima river, 80M above the bridge at Barnes Rd. All equipment was purchased by the Kittitas County Conservation District directly from Biomark. Site was installed and will be managed by WDFW personnel. Initial configuration of the site included 3-20ft, Biomark Lite antennas, each spanning the wetted width of the creek. Antenna 1 is upstream, 2 middle, and 3 is the downstream antenna. Antennas 2 and 3 were damaged February 2016 and were replaced in February 2017 with 24 x 8 ft pass-through antennas constructed with 1 inch PEX. Ten inch posts were used on the bottom of the creek to create a backbone for the antennas. The posts are secured to the substrate with MR-4 anchors. The sides of the antennas are secured using anchors on an exposed bank, clamps on trees and one t-post for antenna 3. Antennas 2 and 3 have a complete field of detection with 24 inches of read range off the coil. Each antenna is connected to a submersible IS1001 antenna control node which are anchored to the bank. The exciter cable runs 120ft upstream along the left bank to the IS1001-MTS, secured in an enclosure. Grid power is being used to charge the 4-12V batteries located in a Jo-Box under the enclosure.

Event Log Summary

Event Date Event Type Comments
11/6/2018 8:20:53 AM General On 5-30-2018 the CAN bus cabling was damaged taking all antennas offline. The CAN bus cables as well as IS1001 enclosures were rebuilt and installed on 10-31-2018 at 14:35. Antenna 01 is currently not connected.
2/28/2017 2:00:00 PM General At this time, power issues at LMC were restored. Connection to antenna 1 has been fixed and antennas 02 and 03 have been replaced with 25' X 8' flexible pass-through antennas. Initial results have shown a high performance of both the pass-through antennas with a complete field and ~24" of read range off the coil in all directions.
2/15/2016 11:00:00 AM General On 2/15/16, at around 11:00, antenna 3 became damaged due to high flows. By 15:30 antenna 2 was disconnected and was removed from sequence.
11/17/2015 9:00:00 PM General Around 9:00 PM antenna 3 lost connection. On 11/24/2015 at 2:04 PM, the connection problem was fixed, antenna 3 was tuned and resumed sequence.
3/6/2015 10:41:46 AM General Site has operated without any interruptions since it has been installed.
8/28/2014 8:18:39 AM General Registered new interrogation site LMC.
