IR4 - Imnaha Weir Downstream Array

The site is located downstream of the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) fish weir on the Imnaha River. There are six antennas approximately 75-feet downstream of the weir. The antennas are driven by Biomark IS1001s and controlled by a Biomark IS1001-MC. The instream antennas are anchored to the streambed with a through-strut system. The equipment is powered by a Hybrid- TEG (model 5220 and 1kw solar). The readers are connected to the controller via Biomark Data-Over-Power (DOP) cabling. The MC is connected to a satellite modem for remote telemetry. The site is being remotely monitored by Biomark with automatic downloads (and PTAGIS submissions) every four hours. The power supply and remote telemetry are being shared by the three interrogation sites at the weir, IR4, IR5, and IML.

On May 5th, the site was turned back on about 10:00 a.m.

Turned site off for the winter to make sure that one array on IR5 could make it through the winter. The solar panels were switched to winter mode. The site will be turned back on in the spring.

Site turned back on for 2022 season.  Started detecting virtual tags at 12:39 p.m. on March 28, 2022.

11/15/2021 12:36:00 PM General

To conserve power at the site, Antennas 4, 5, and 6 were turned off on on Nov 15, 2021.  Antennas 1, 2, and 3 remain operational.  Antennas 4-6 will be turned back on in March/April 2022.

6/9/2021 10:20:00 AM General Antennas 4-6 were turned back on at approximately 10:20 a.m.
4/12/2021 11:30:00 AM General Antennas 4, 5, and 6 were purposefully turned off to prevent data overages of the satellite data plan during the forced and volitional smolt release which consists of almost 20,000 PIT tags. Antennas 1-3 are fully functional as well as both antennas at IML. Antennas 4-6 will be turned back on in a few weeks.

10/23/2020 10:42:00 AM SiteDown Shut the site down for the winter.
7/22/2020 3:21:43 PM General Removed a PIT Tag that was stuck on IR4 antenna 3. Site was up and running when we left.
6/16/2020 8:20:00 AM General Satellite SIM Card swapped, site visit.
3/20/2020 11:50:00 AM SiteUp Turned on the master controller to operate IR4/IML. Antennas A1-A3 are operational. Antennas A4-A6 are currently off and will remain off until May or June 2020. Antennas A7 & A8 (i.e, IML) are functioning. The site is running entirely on solar power.
11/22/2019 2:43:00 PM SiteDown We turned the Master Controller off on 11/22/2019. Anticipate turning the equipment back on in late March/early April 2020.
9/5/2019 3:50:00 PM General Antennas 4, 5, and 6 were manually turned off for the season to save power. The antennas will be restarted in the spring.
5/14/2019 5:00:00 PM General Turned on antennas A4, A5, and A6 at about 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Savings time. Adjusted solar panel to summer mode.
3/27/2019 4:45:31 PM SiteUp Replaced batteries. Site is currently running on solar power. Only the upstream row of antennas are operating. The bottom row of antennas were left off. Site was operating at about 13:30 pacific time. Updated firmware on the MC to Application v1.6.4.S19 and CBG Firmware v1.6.5.
3/18/2019 8:55:00 AM SiteDown The site lost power on 11/30/18. Site visit on 3/18/2019 confirmed that the site is without power.
11/27/2018 11:30:00 AM General Replaced the Satellite modem that uploads data for IR4/IR5/IML and re-established remote communication.
10/23/2018 1:00:00 PM SiteUp IR4 is running with the three antennas (A1, A2, A3) that comprise the upstream node. While we were able to isolate the power problem at IR4/IR5, the site is not able to produce enough power to run IR4 and IR5 concurrently with all of the antennas in operation. To help reduce power consumption, we installed a breaker that allowed us to turn off the downstream antenna nodes (A4, A5, A6). These three antennas will remain off until March 2019. The site is currently on solar power. The TEG is broken.
10/11/2018 12:30:00 PM SiteDown The site was turned off @ 12:30 p.m. The site is continuing to experience power problems. Since IR4 and IR5 use the same power source, IR4 was turned off in an effort to keep IR5 operating by reducing power consumption.
10/9/2018 1:30:00 PM General Site was down from about 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. to conduct voltage testing of the TEG and Solar panels. The voltage to the Master Controller has been inconsistent for the last week. Adjusted the solar panels from "summer mode" to winter mode.
7/28/2018 7:30:00 AM General Power outage from 7/28/18 @ 7:30 am until 7/31/18 @ 8:00 am.
6/26/2018 8:30:00 AM General The site was down sporadically from about out 8:30 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. to make upgrades to IML. The same master controller operates IML and IR4.
4/24/2018 10:30:00 AM SiteUp The master controller (MC2) for IR4 was turned back on. Replaced a breaker switch that controlled the solar panel. Updated firmware. Propane tank at 60%.
4/16/2018 10:00:00 AM SiteDown IR4 is down. The data plan was exceeded so real time remote monitoring is on hold until further notice. On 4/16/18, we replaced the solar charge controller. This did not solve the problem where the breaker switch for the solar panels keeps getting tripped. We were able to utilize the solar panels if the thermal electric generator (TEG) was turned off. Since the smolt releases from the acclimation facility are done for 2018, we turned off master controller 2 (MC2) which runs (IR4 and IML) and turned on MC1 (IR5). IR5 should be collecting data as of 4/16/18 at 12:30 p.m. IR5 is only running on solar power.
