General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 10/28/2010 12:00 AM

In-stream detection system consisting of a tandem array located in Big Sheep Creek. The array (BSC) located at river km 6 (N 45.50649, W -116.85067) consists of two arrays , deployed serially 10 m apart, of two 20 ft Biomark flat panel antennas each. BSC is operated by the Integrated Status and Effectiveness Project (ISEMP) cooperators Nez Perce Tribe and Quantitative Consultants, Inc. and was installed for continuous monitoring on October 20, 2010. The array includes ISEMP standard site monitoring equipment including air and water temperature probes, and a water pressure transducer to monitor stream level. Electrical power is provided by a thermal electric generator and remote communication provided by a satellite modem.

Event Log Summary

Event Date Event Type Comments
8/16/2023 12:00:00 AM SiteUp

Antenna A3 lost current May 2, 2023.  A3 was replaced with a HDPE 20 ft. Biomark antenna.  BSC is operating continuously without disruption through August 21, 2023.

8/7/2023 12:00:00 AM SiteUp

Site resumed normal operations recording PIT tags and test tags August 7, 2023.

7/31/2023 12:00:00 AM SiteDown

MUX stopped recording PIT tags and virtual test tags July 31, 2023.  A site visit on August 7, 2023 found no tags stored in the MUX buffer.

1/31/2023 7:47:00 AM General

BSC is operating continuously without disruption through January 21, 2023.

9/1/2021 12:00:00 AM General

BSC antenna A1 was replaced by a Biomark 20 ft. PVC antenna on September 1 due to loss of antenna current starting in early August, 2021.  BSC antenna A3 was replaced by a Biomark 20 ft. PVC antenna on October 20,2021 due to complete loss of antenna current on September 9, 2021.  BSC is operating continuously without disruption through November 2, 2021.

7/30/2020 3:00:00 PM SiteUp

Thermo electric generator was restarted.  BSC functioning normally.  Event log to change Status on Metadata profile to Active-Operational.

7/28/2020 10:31:00 AM SiteDown BSC array thermoelectric generator (TEG) stopped functioning on July 28, 2020 due to a leaking hose. The hose was replaced and the site became fully functional again on July 30, 2020.
6/16/2020 8:20:00 AM General Satellite SIM Card swapped, site visit. General clean up and maintenance performed. Brush and trees removed from antenna area.
9/7/2019 4:57:00 PM General BSC Thermo-electric generator (TEG) flame was put out due to a severe thunderstorm on 9/7/19 thus stopping data collection. The TEG was re-started on 9/23/19. BSC has run continuously without disruption through 10/09/19.
11/8/2018 7:16:00 AM General Big Sheep Creek (BSC) had Campbell Scientific data logger replaced with a new data logger designed by Biomark on November 8, 2018. A new HughesNet satellite modem/antenna was also installed. BSC site air temperature probe was changed out for a compatible model. BSC is operating continuously without disruption through November 26, 2018.
11/2/2018 7:16:00 AM General Big Sheep Creek (BSC) optical isolator between MUX and datalogger was found unplugged on 11/8/18. DRS and TAGS table was not recorded to the datalogger between 11/2/18 and 11/8/18. A BSC MUX buffer download showed no new PIT detections during this time.
5/25/2018 7:42:00 AM SiteDown Big Sheep Creek Array (BSC) Thermo electric generator flame was extinguished by thunderstorms at approximately 8:00 PM Friday May 25. BSC TEG was restarted and normal operations resumed on May 28 8:00 AM.
5/22/2018 8:27:00 AM SiteUp A severe rainstorm extinguished the thermo electric generator (TEG) flame at approximately 9:00 PM on May 22, 2018. The TEG as restarted on May 23. Normal operations resumed at 11:15 AM, May 23, 2018.
9/28/2017 1:56:00 PM General Big Sheep Creek (BSC) array antenna A2 was replaced with a 20 ft. PVC antenna manufactured by Westfork due to low current most likely caused by a water leak inside the original Biomark stout antenna. BSC is running continuously without disruption through 10-09-2017.
6/12/2017 12:51:00 PM SiteUp Big Sheep Creek Array (BSC) experienced heavy rainfall that extinguished the thermo-electric generator (TEG) flame turning the site off approximately 5:30 PM on 6/9/17. The TEG was restarted and normal operations resumed on 6/12/17 at 11:00 AM.
5/5/2017 7:46:00 AM General The optical isolator between the MUX and data logger was replaced at Big Sheep Creek array (BSC) on May 5, 2017. BSC has run continuously without disruption through 5/10/17.
