Settings in the System configuration tab specify how M5 will operate, where it will store data files, and the registered email address required to submit data to PTAGIS. Each setting referenced in this tab is described in detail in Figure 15.
Figure 15. Settings available on the System tab of the Site Configuration dialog.
Site Code |
|
A unique three-character interrogation site code registered with PTAGIS.
NOTE: changing the Site Code may impact any existing data files not yet uploaded or processed. Validation ensures only data files matching the configured site code value can be processed. Any previous files archived under a previous site code will remain on the system. |
If enabled, M5 Monitor Service will start site monitoring immediately when the system is started. If disabled, site monitoring will require a manual start.See the Startup topic for more information. |
Supports SbyC Operations |
|
Specifies that the site will support Separation by Code. This feature is only enabled at interrogation sites operated by PTAGIS and should be disabled for all other sites. |
The amount of time in seconds to wait until retrying any failed port connections after startup. Enter zero to disable this feature. See Startup section for details. |
If an email address is entered, the Alert Manger service will immediately email any critical alerts (spooling multiple alerts into one email). Critical alerts are those that will impact data collection. NOTE: pressing the button after an email address is entered will send a test email to ensure this feature is working properly. See the Emailing Critical Alerts topic for more information. |
Describes how the PTAGIS server should process data files submitted from this system. The values are: •Primary: data file will be processed as a production dataset and made available via PTAGIS reporting system. •Backup: secondary or backup dataset to supplement production data, if needed. This setting is used at interrogation sites operated by PTAGIS with high-availability requirements. Data submitted as backup is not loaded into PTAGIS. |
Location where data files are created by the M5 Monitor Service. The default location on Windows is C:\ProgramData\PTAGIS\M5\Data. For Linux installations, the default location is /usr/share/PTAGIS/M5/Data.
NOTE: changing the location of this folder should not be necessary for normal operations and requires the Local System account on Windows has the necessary read/write privileges to manage data files. Also keep in mind this folder is on the machine on which the M5 Monitor Service is running, which may not be the same machine on which the M5 Control Panel is displaying this setting from. |
Create New File Every |
|
A value indicating the number of new interrogation files created per day. The default and recommended value is 24 which will create a new file at each change of the hour. Values that create more than 24 files per day are only recommended if needed to test file creation or submission. |
Flush File to Disk Every |
|
A value in seconds indicating how often data collected in memory is physically written to a file on disk. This determines how much data could be lost if the system encounters a hard shutdown. The default value is 10 seconds. |
Starting File Sequence |
|
Use this to specify a different starting number for the file sequenced. If left blank, files will start at 001 at the beginning of the day and increment by one until the end of the day is reached. If a number is entered (e.g. 501), that number will be the starting sequence number instead. This can be used to generate unique file names if multiple data collection computers are in use at one interrogation site. Changes to this setting take place when the next day starts. Available in v2.1.1 and higher. |
Location where data files are archived on the local machine. The default location for Windows installations is C:\ProgramData\PTAGIS\M5\Archive. The default location for Linux installations is /usr/share/PTAGIS/M5/Archive.
File Submission Action |
|
Indicates how local data files should be processed: •Upload and Archive: files will be automatically uploaded to PTAGIS and archived to the Archive Folder on the local machine. •Archive Only: files will be automatically archived to the Archive Folder on the local machine only and not uploaded to PTAGIS. •Disabled: files will NOT be uploaded or archived and will remain in the Stage Folder.
When set to Upload and Archive and the Registered Email Address has a value, pressing the Test button to the right of this field will initiate a test upload to PTAGIS to verify files can be submitted successfully. See the File Submission topic for more information. |
A value in minutes indicating how frequently the system will automatically check for any new files needing to be processed by the designated File Submission Action. If set to zero, the File Submission Action will not be triggered automatically and instead require the user to initiate this action manually via the M5 Control Panel’s Data > Initiate Upload/Archive menu command.
By default, this is set to every 15 minutes on the hour to check for new data files needing processing. See the File Submission topic for more information. |
This is the email address of a person authorized to submit data files from this interrogation site. See the File Submission topic for more information. |
