PLC Messages

 

Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are used at main stem sites to both control Separation by Code (SbyC) diversion gates and to record the changes in operations at facilities. These can include when the power is turned on or off, the sample rate for smolt monitoring program operations, date the facility goes into primary or secondary bypass, when a gate was opened or closed, and many other options.

 

The table below shows the types of events currently being monitored by PLCs and recorded directly into the data stream at many PTAGIS-maintained main stem interrogation sites.
