An interrogation file is used to submit data to PTAGIS that was collected at a registered interrogation site for a period of time. The file includes additional metadata to indicate the role of the data file for processing, the system used to collect the data, and the identifiers of the transceivers and antennas that generated the data, along with a timestamp of when the action occurred.

There have been four interrogation file formats accepted for loading into PTAGIS: Multimon, Minimon, M4 and the M5 format. The M5 format is the only interrogation file currently accepted for loading.
