EVENT LOG FOR SITE KHS The first line of each entry contains a date/time stamp & who is reporting. The most recent entry is listed first. Date Time Who ---------- ----- -------- 12/30/2010 13:58 Davids Operations normal. 12/15/2010 16:23 Davids With increased flow we expect a decrease in detection efficiency for juvenile out-migrants, while adult efficiency should remain constant. The spike in flow has resulted in an Adult Chinook detection (3D9.1C2D3F3DB6) on 12/11/2010. 12/15/2010 16:01 Davids Water has spiked over 2000cfs at the USGS gage. Antennas were manually tuned. BBC screw trap began operation 12/12/2010. 12/07/2010 14:42 Davids On 11/29/10 while downloading the MUX data, I received a warning message saying "Download Timeout: Connection timed out. 0 codes were downloaded. Warning - interrogation file was downloaded but may not contain all tags in reader buffer." After diagnosis, it appears the cause was connection problems to the comm. port on the MUX. There were no problems downloading today (12/7/10). Manual tuning was also performed today. 11/30/2010 12:44 Davids Manual tuning was performed via Hyperterminal due to noise levels up to 42%. Detection range was also tested with the test tag showing no less than 10" on any antenna. 11/29/2010 15:57 Davids Manual tuning was performed via Hyperterminal due to noise levels up to 42%. Detection range was also tested with the test tag showing no less than 10" on any antenna. 11/22/2010 14:55 Davids Manual tuning was performed today on the antennas. Noise levels were ranging between 4% and 11%, which is a dramatic improvement. The test tag was used on 11/21/10 to find the detection range of all antennas which was around 14 inches consistently. 11/10/2010 10:11 Davids Antenna 3 was replaced with a new antenna today (11/9/2010) around 11:00am due to high noise levels. I will be tuning the antenna again tomorrow. The test tag was used on 11/2/10 to find the detection range of all antennas which was around 8 inches consistently. All data prior to 11/9/10 at 11:10 was reported in Pacific Daylight Savings Time, and all subsequent data will be reported in Pacific Standard Time. 11/09/2010 16:50 Davids Antenna 3 was replaced with a new antenna today (11/9/2010) around 11:00am on due to high noise levels. I will be tuning the antenna again tomorrow. The test tag was used on 11/2/10 to find the detection range of all antennas which was around 8 inches consistently. 11/02/2010 15:19 Davids Rain this past week has caused the river to rise from about 27cfs, to peaks of 80cfs at the USGS gage near Spalding. Operations normal. Detections are starting to become more frequent. 10/25/2010 15:33 Davids Noise alarm for antenna 3. It was manually tuned via hyperterminal. Otherwise, operations are normal. 10/19/2010 13:47 Davids Power was lost to the battery charger sometime this last week due to the GFI switch flipping. Test tags began missing scheduled fires after 10/16/10 at 10:13:21. The GFI was reset, and operations are now normal. 10/13/2010 12:55 Davids Site operations are normal. The NRS straps to anchor down the antennas were replaced on 10/7/10. 10/05/2010 10:58 Davids Site operations are normal. Antenna 6 noise levels continue to be high. 09/27/2010 17:41 Davids Operations normal. Water level is maintaining a steady flow and is continuing to cover the 2, 3, 5, and 6 antennas. 09/27/2010 17:21 Davids Due to low power and battery replacement on 9/23/10, a gap in site events occurred between 9/22/10 at 20:45:24" and 9/23/10 at 14:25:38". Since this event operations have been normal. 09/20/2010 14:35 Davids Operations normal. Rain for the last 3 days so water up above antennas 6, 5, 3, and 2. There is still rain in the forecast for several days as well. 09/14/2010 14:50 Davids A GFI switch was flipped and power was lost which resulted in a loss of event history from 9/6/10 at 10:18:10 through 9/8/10 at 10:43:58. Ever since this event, test tags have been firing irregularly with long spans of no test tags. This problem will be investigated. Water level is up some, but still hasn't reached the top of the arrays. 09/14/2010 11:30 Davids A GFI switch was flipped and power was lost for some time, which is responsible for gaps in the data. Operations are back to normal. Water level is up some, but still not very high. I (Nick Davids) can be added as the new technical point of contact. I can be reached via e-mail at nick.davids@idfg.idaho.gov or phone 208-799-5010. Download occurred 9/1/10. Delay in upload extenuating circumstances. 08/25/2010 14:32 bowersox Operations normal. LOW FLOW @ site. Noise levels high and current low on ANT6. We will be tuning antennas tomorrow. 08/17/2010 10:37 bowersox MUX flashed w/ 2.1 Firmware on 8/16. Downloaded MUX the morning of 8/17 and issues w/ Minimon download appears to have been fixed. For unknown reason Test Tag was not stored on buffer after 7/16. No tags were recorded on the buffer from 7/16 till 8/1 when one fish was detected at the site. There is another gap in active tags and/or test tags from 8/1 till 8/16 when the MUX was updated with new firmware and the test tag was turned back on at the site. Only one fish passing the array during this extended time period is plausible given the lack of flow at that site. Minimal water flowing under antennas amongst substrate. 08/12/2010 15:02 bowersox Interrupted operations during reporting period, potentially due to high temperatures at site during reporting period and/or firmware issues w/ MUX. MUX will be re-flashed with updated firmware on Monday. Flows are less than 1 cfs @ the array site. Minimal fish movement expected. Brett J. Went through a period of high flows, but all antennas weathered the events fine. 04/20/2010 13:41 Ethan Site crashed due to unexplained reasons on 3/31 and interrogation activity resumed on 4/3 at 10:24 on its own accord. Site operations are back to normal at this time. 03/30/2010 11:30 Ethan Site operations are normal, aside from not having a test tag firing. Seems like the MUX has a mind of its own, maybe it's just 1.9D. But antennas are working, fish are being interrogated. Flows are up, and Big Bear is bankfull for the first time in 2010! 03/22/2010 08:48 Ethan Looks like we have gaps in the data in the latest upload. This is due to relay problems at the site. Missing all data from 3/11/2010, and interrogation data seems to be spotty in before and after the 11th, but we do have some data. Will install diodes as soon as we can. 03/02/2010 16:02 Ethan Site operations are normal at this time. Although there was a gaps in detection activities at the site during the end of January and beginning of February. Still working through some power issues. Gaps occurred from approximately 1630 on 1/20 until 2000 on 1/21/10 and then again on 1/31 @ 1230 until 1150 on 02/11, when power was restored. New diodes will be installed soon to hopefully prevent these issues in the future. 01/19/2010 12:03 Ethan Site operations have been intermittent since last file upload. No detections to report between 11/11/09 to 12/17/2009. On 12/17 it was determined that power to the site was compromised, due to a faulty extension cord. Detection activity resumed on 1/7/2010, after all batteries were fully charged. No detections to report prior to that date. Site operations and detection capabilities are normal as of 1/7/2009.
