    Information pertaining to the volitional release of spring chinook from
    CHP in 2010:

    The chinook were initially raised at Eastbank hatchery near East Wenatchee
    and transferred to the Chiwawa ponds on December 14-16, 2009.

    The volitional release started on 4/14/10 at 10:59 am. That is the point
    in which the PIT tag equipment was installed and running, and when the
    hatchery personnel opened the gate.

    On 5/12/10, hatchery personnel seined the remaining fish out of the pond.
    During this seining process, several hundred (?) fish escaped over the dam
    boards without going through the PIT tag antennas. Also, pushing thousand
    fish through the PIT tag system in a short period of time probably also
    adversely impacted the ability to read some of the PIT tagged fish.

    The volitional release officially ended at 10:00 am PST on 5/12/10. The
    fish were gone from the pond, and the PIT tag equipment was turned off and
    uninstalled.
