How to Use Query Builder 2

  • Log in (you will need to request a new account if you have not done so already).
  • Go to Data / Advanced Reporting and click the link to launch the advanced report tool.

  • Click Query Builder 2.

  • Review the report descriptions and select the report in which you are interested.

  • Select the attributes you wish to include in your report by moving them from the left-hand list box to the right-hand list box. Some attributes are selected by default; to remove them from your report, move them from the right-hand list box to the left-hand list box.

  • Select metrics to include in your output by moving them from the left-hand list box to the right-hand list box.
    • You should always include the Count metric
    • What it is counting depends on the report, attributes, and filter parameters
    • For more information, see the Metrics section of the Documentation
  • Specify filter parameters by selecting the attributes (one by one) on which you would like to filter from the Index list on the left.

    • The green flag indicates that filter criteria has been specified for that attribute
    • None of the filter parameters are required. Please do not try to run the report without specifying some filters; the report will not run to completion.
    • Take note of the last two filter options. These allow you to filter on Tag Code using a text file or a saved report. See the documentation for How to Use a Text File as  Filter on Tag Code or How To Use a Saved Report as a Filter on Tag Code for more details.
  • Once you have specified all your filter parameters, enter a report name and click the Run Report button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

  • Review the results set. If you need to make any changes, click the Home menu button to show the main toolbar and then click the Re-prompt icon.

  • If the report is satisfactory, click the Save  icon or select Home / Save As.

  • By default your report will be saved so that every time you run it you have the option to change both attributes and filters. The current attributes and filter parameters will be set as the default answers, so all you need to do is hit the Run Report button if you just want to run the report as is. If you want to save the report so that the attributes are always the same, but you have the option to change the filter parameters, select Only filter will be prompted. If you want to have the option to change attributes but not filters, select Only template will be prompted. If you want to save the report so you never see the filter or attribute prompts again, select Save report as static. If you choose this option, you will not be able to edit any of the parameters of the report.
