These are the somewhat new "skinny" 8mm tags that came out a few years ago. We hope to tag juvenile fall Chinook in the Snake River downstream of Hells Canyon Dam. This is for Dr. Billy Connor's ongoing beach seining project
I haven't been able to find any product testing. I contacted Alan Brower and he confirmed that they had not tested these tags. Also, their testing schedule is full and they would not be able to do any testing until fall.
We used these tags in a small lab study (Rabe et al. Survival, Growth, and Tag Retention of Age-0 Chinook) and they performed well for us there. The number of these tags we are hoping to put in the system is relatively small (2,000-4,000).
